Mental Health First Aider

This accredited certification course covers practical skills to identify when people may be suffering mental ill health, and how to signpost them to the appropriate help and support. No prior experience is needed. Complete the training, get certified, and make a difference in your workplace or community.
The course is delivered live over Google Meet, with your trainer Claire Standen, a qualified coach, trauma therapist, hypnotherapist and breathwork practitioner.

Why do Mental Health First Aid?
Mental Health First Aid provides you with a framework to help people access the help they need. It empowers people to both seek and provide help, and contributes to reducing stigma around Mental Illness in the workplace and beyond.
What do I need to take the course?
For in person courses, you’ll need a pen and paper or your preferred note taking equipment.
What is the role of a Mental Health First Aider?
As a mental health first aider, you will be able to recognise signs and symptoms of mental ill health, and know how to start a conversation to provide initial support and signposting for help.
What shouldn’t I do as a Mental Health First Aider?
Mental Health First Aiders are not trained mental health professionals and should not diagnose mental health conditions or provide counselling. You will discover when to help someone access professional support.

Claire Standen is a certified and insured coach and therapist, with 7 years experience helping people live happier, healthier lives. She has numerous certifications in, for example, Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP), hypnotherapy, Breathwork and trauma resolution techniques and works both 1:1 and with groups therapeutically and providing coaching services.

The course contains discussion of topics that some people may find distressing, including self harm and suicide. The onus is on the course participant to ensure they are taking care of themselves, and make the instructor aware if they are not OK or require support or advice.
